Suprised by Joy Book Cover by CS LewisA quick quote from “Suprised by Joy” by C.S. Lewis – a gift from my brother Tylan (read his stuff here).

“…I often find myself at such cross-purposes with the modern world: I have been a converted pagan living among apostate Puritans.”

That pretty much sums it up for some of us.

You?

Blogatical?  Not really.  Not on purpose.  Between busyness and finally getting the family out on our first vacation break of the year I haven’t updated.  But now…thanks  to the (grand?) return of Gary Tucker to the Faith Assembly staff and the final edits being finished on the new Faith branding and publication changes…I have time to breathe (and blog) again.

Thought I’d return by passing on some book ideas….a couple things I just finished…

The Forgotten God by Francis Chan - “Pastor Francis Chan offers a compelling invitation to understand, embrace, and follow the Holy Spirit’s direction in our lives.”

Jesus Wants to Save Christians by Rob Bell - “This dramatic book is politically charged but not party-bent, bearing a message evangelicals need: that Jesus didn’t come just to save people for heaven someday but to transform his followers and the physical world now.”

Reading “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan right now – seems like a great followup to the ending of “Jesus Wants to Save Christians” as Rob ended with a challenge for us in the church to become the “Good Gift” to the world – the broken and poured out gift from God to a world in need of servants motivated by a love for their creator and His people.

Reading anything great?
