What began as an idea in a pocket group at Transit a couple months ago has grown into a reality – we are going to give tons of people a place to enjoy a traditional thanksgiving dinner and for many others, they will experience the joy of serving and giving.
It has been awesome to see the church come together to provide the money, food and hands it will take for us to open up the doors to the community tomorrow.
So go on – have a big idea, tell some people and then see what happens…and if you want to talk about it over dinner tomorrow – come to the campus from 1-3!
And a huge pre-thanks to God, to the 70+ volunteers who are coming, to the Smerz, Gipes, Youngs and my personal favorite – my wife Amy. You have all made this happen…and I’m honored to serve with you.
I am submitting an application for a design/project management virtual coaching network called “Dream Year” (from the application – “You’re applying to join 20 other leaders in a 12-month process to launch your dream project.”). And the first part of the application requires me to find a person who is already approved for a Google Wave account - This is a new on-line collaboration tool created by Google at wave.google.com.
The kicker is that you have to be invited to use the wave software…so I need a person to help or my app is stuck in the mud.
So, if you have received an invite or are already approved for an account and would be kind enough to invite me – please comment on this post to let me know! Or you can share this post with people you know to see if they have the account…
Ok, this is an unapproved (meaning I didn’t ask first) leak of one song off the new Collision Band EP. The Collision band is made up of members of Faith Assembly but who’s work spans from the Junior High to High School to Transit (18-20’s) to theGathering (30’s+).
Mixed by our sound friend from WLCN, JT Price (with the killer hat).
Enjoy. And if they ask, I didn’t give this to you.
Being the youngest of 3 growing up, I heard all the time that I was spoiled, I got things the other two didn’t get, ect; I used to think it was only mostly true. Let’s be honest, the baby of the family gets a fairly sweet deal.
But last night, well, early this morning, I was reminded how well the youngest is treated.
Ava walked in (all of 3 1/2 years old) and calmly informed us that she was wet – which rarely happens – and without complaining or even frustration Amy and I went into action. Amy on the undress/redress side, and I on the strip the bed/put new sheets on the bed side. Not rocket science I know, but what hit me was how fast, efficient and frustration free we were as we laid back down less than 5 minutes later…with Ava back into her bed falling off to a peaceful sleep. It was a good parenting moment – considering the situation of course.
I know the truth is that we have simply become a little less selfish over the years and have learned what things are just not worth complaining about…well, mostly. But for whatever reason, the baby of the family is definitely getting the best parents in our house.
Lord, protect the other kids from all the damage I’m sure we’ve caused by being bad parents who had to learn as we went through it all…
