So one of the things I love about my job is keeping up on technologies that can be used to further what God is doing through Faith…it is also one of the hard parts of what I do. This week, for example, I caught the end of a live video cast from Tucson on how to use StreamingChurch.tv - and of course how it is “necessary” for us and how it will pay for itself. That part is good. I’m kidding – it’s all good.
There are just WAY too many options out there – and my job is to figure out which ones we utilize and which ones we respectfully decline.
One book I read {The Blogging Church} said you have to figure out whether the new technology is a tool or a toy. Not 100% on this one yet. Could be both…
Not only is ‘Unbelievable’ the name for the song in this video – but the animation and clever elements are pretty unbelievable as well. Wait, can you say something is pretty and unbelievable at the same time?
We took the family downtown to see some of the free Spoleto stuff going on…kid’s crafts, a parade we ended up not watching because our kids don’t need to see guys in drag…yeah. But we did make it through the farmer’s market and kicked around Marion Square in the sun for a while. It was great.
Today is Wednesday – the lull day between Sunday {V2, Living Room} andTransit. I love what I do, but this week’s Wednesday is even a bit better than most days. I’m studying and writing for July! Yeah, July. It feels great to be ahead of things.
I love being around creative people. I love to create. - Amy’s so crafty, she makes people. -
There is this church in the upstate that is doing some pretty awesome stuff creatively speaking and I wanted to share this one with you all.
This video wasn’t edited using layers and layers in an office somewhere. Instead they put a projector and computer in the back of a truck, waited for dark and then drove down the road projecting the images on to the asphalt. I love when people mix high tech with hands on – in fact there is a great book on this very thing.
Read this great post from a guy named Scott Rodgers…about being teachable. This is something I am desperately working on – if the last few years have shown me nothing else they have shown me how little I know and that I need to learn! Maybe it will help you too.
A quote from the piece:
“Some people mistake experience for teachability. 10 years of experience + teachability = 10 years of experience. 10 years of experience – teachability = 1 year of experience, 10 times.”
Travis...Who has the honor of serving at Faith Assembly as the young adult {Transit} pastor – and helping with web sites and graphic design. The thoughts, videos and music on this site are my choosing – don’t blame the church!
